HUD copy cameras
Located in aircraft cockpits and aimed at the horizon ahead, these perfectly aligned video cameras provide images on which flight indications are superimposed (Head Up Display).
Hardened to operate in fighter planes (vibrations, shocks, thermals, electromagnetic compatibility), the latest generation of HUD LHERITIER video cameras is equipped with high-definition color sensors and electronics incorporating a high real-time calculation capacity: this last feature enables the distortion correction system related to the cockpit canopy, an operation formerly done physically by means of a dedicated optics, now replaced by the appropriate software.
Qualified on three French aircraft types (Alpha-Jet, Mirage F1, RAFALE) and soon 4 with the Mirage 2000, these video cameras clearly exhibit the software’s capacity to replace and improve old fashioned architectures based on complex lens systems.
